How do I get over a horse being put down?

I had a young 2 year old stallion named Shadow who had to be put to sleep from an old cut. I still cry a little just because I had him since he was 5 months old and put my blood, sweat, and tears into training him. He is buried on my land and I go to his grave at-least once every wk. Its been about 2 months and my parent are looking at some new horses for me. I found a young filly I really like but I'm scared that if I bring her home she might get cut to and have to be put down. How can I get over my fear and let myself love another horse?
